Financial Literacy

"Students looked anxiously at the strangers when they came into the classrooms.  I doubt that any of them quite know what to expect."  a fifth grade teacher

The format and agenda for Accounting for Kids Day in the Cincinnati region is consistent from year to year. The event begins with a complimentary "Kick-Off" continental breakfast at the Mayerson Academy at 8:00 A.M., and after welcoming remarks from local dignitaries and sponsors, volunteers report to their assigned schools and play a fun and interactive financial literacy game called GEAR UP! that was created by Paycor.

After the game has been played, a question and answer session is held to review the concepts presented. Furthermore, volunteers are also encouraged to discuss students' goals, college plans, and the thought provoking question, "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Volunteers serving in a Cincinnati Public School will be done with their time commitment by 12:15 P.M. Classroom start and end times vary at the other participating school districts.
